Thankful For The Weekend...

My kids keep asking me, "Why is everyone talking about Christmas when it's not even Thanksgiving yet?".  It reminded me of the book, "All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten" & the blessing of an innocent child mind.  It's also reminded me to stay present and focus on the importance of the holiday at hand.  

This weekend, amongst the hustle & bustle of the coming holiday season, I want to stop and share a hot chocolate & chocolate macaroon with that someone special...

...and be thankful for the moment...

Emily & her boys tromped through the woods, gathered up a few long branches & propped them in a heavy urn creating a "thankful tree".  Each day, each person fills out a card saying what they are thankful for...

Another idea is to put one of these cards at each place setting on Thanksgiving Day.  Each person can write what they are thankful for and share with the whole group.

It once had a prominent place in my office/work space... I've since moved from on from there and it's landed itself on an out of the way wall that I rarely see day-to-day... after looking at the photos from The Selby, I'm inspired to reinvent it.

Round 'Em Up!

My husband and I often plot covert operations... "Project Clear OUT the Playroom"... where we raid the room late night and quietly fill bags with toys we feel have had their day or just need to move on to another lucky household... and yet, when it comes to my kids beloved stuffed animals, my bleeding heart stops me from secretly shipping them off.
